Lakes where caught or found floating, etc. 20 pound browns or better; but lakes where these brutes came from. interesting! what I know of:
Edison Lake 1
Upper Twin Lake, Bridgeport 3
Lower Twin Lake, Bridgeport 9
Twin Lakes, Mammoth 1
Grant Lake 1
Gull Lake 1
Stampede Res. 1
Paulina Lake 9
East Lake 1
Wickiup Res. 15 or so
Pleasant Valley Res. 1
Flaming Gorge, dozens (but not too good now)
Fallen Leaf Lake 1
Baum Lake 1
Navajo Res. 1
Regulator Lake 1
Jordenelle 1 (netted)
Green River 1
Logan River 1
Ruby Marsh 1
Cave Lake 1
Pathfinder Res. 1
Bridgeport Lake 1
Hauser Lake 1
Wade Lake 2
Reservation Lake 1
Anybody know of any more? anywhere? Twin Lakes/Bridgeport have produced more than Paulina/East Lakes: 10 to 12; interesting! why do you think I fish there alot! ha ha ha. I have 9 over 10 out of Lower Twin myself......!
Another interesting fact is that several lakes have only one and only a few lakes have more than one!
So, if you were going to be looking for a lake to catch a 20 pound brown, here is where you need to be fishin....ha ha ha
I have another fact for you: not one brown over 10 pounds has been caught in California so far this year! I've never seen that by May 15th....can you believe that? _________________

Yes; your in luck. Go to Sho Low and check out a tackle store. There are a few brown trout lakes in eastern Arizona that hold large browns. I been up there a couple of times. You need an Indian permit, $6.00 a day and electric motor only. They rent boats at Reservation Lake where the state record comes from a 22 1/2 pound brown.... _________________

Sly Park Lake Resort has a 20#er on the wall that was caught in the early 70's. They used to get alot of big brown's out of there before the drought that all but dried the lake up in the late 70's but now there is nothing close to that. _________________
Most of it is in New Mexico. I been there and Hank Malchakie became a brownbagger with his second there, a 12 pounder. The lake record is over 20 pounds from there. We caught many up to 4 pounds...also _________________
There are actually 2 other lakes I can think of. One of them is a big surprise....Lake Billy Chinook produced one just over 20 Lb. years ago that was confirmed by the Fish and Game people. I wouldn't waste any time fishing it for browns though. Too many other good lakes here in Central Oregon. LBC did produce a lot of big bulls this year with (5) confirmed between 15-18 Lbs. in 6 weeks this spring. Bulls are cool but nothing compares to catching the elusive monster brown trout wherever you find them.
You know what is amazing is that California lakes don't seem to get any more 20 pounders. There are alot of CA lakes that got 20 pounders in the past, but no more. Why is that? I will tell you the main reason why that is: it is because of bad managerment by the DFG! They stock Macks in lakes and smallmouth bass, but they won't stock browns, just in a few lakes. They have NO trophy management of lakes either...and stupid regulations....and seasons! You have liberals running the state. What can you expect? _________________

Allan, you hit it on the head about California. Great state to live, but the idiots running it are ruining it!
They stock a lot of the lakes here in Az. with browns, but I do not hear of much of any size being caught, do you think it is because of a lot less pressure or are the growing conditions not as good as say Calif. or Oregon?
