Sorry I didn't get this on last night, I couldn't seem to get logged on from home. As Ron has told you, I have been fishing for trophy Brown Trout on and off for 20 years and have never caught one over 10 lbs. To become a Bagger has been a goal for me for a long time and I really started fishing seriously for browns about 11 years ago. I have caught a lot of browns up to 9.75 lbs from all over the country, but just couldn't seem to get over the hump. After each excursion, my wife would ask me if I was a winner or loser of course meaning had I caught the one I was chasing. She really hated taking home a loser....lol. A few years ago I started noticing in my buddies tackle box, an AC Plug here and there. He would put those lures on and do quite well with them. Last year I placed and order for several of your plugs and followed up with a second order after I had lost several of the first order in a Utah lake. I really like the action on the lures, and reading the forum almost daily told me that this might be the thing that made me a winner.
This last weekend had been planned as another one of our extended trips elsewhere, but it turned out that the lakes we wanted to visit were still iced in. I did some things with my family on Friday and Saturday in Cheyenne and upon returning got a phone call telling me that a local Wyoming lake had gone ice free. We planned a trip for early Sunday morning. On the drive to the lake I contemplated what lures I would try for the day. My buddy and I always experiment a little with one of us running a tried and tested lure and the other the experiment. I decided that I would run a AC plug 6 inch skinney rainbow. It was a typical day for us, picking up a fish here and there, but not really anything too exciting, but I stuck with that AC Plug all day. About 1:15 I got hit pretty hard and the fish put on a sizzling run. I thought, wow this could be a big brown, but the reality was that it was probably a big laker acting tough in that cold water. The fight lasted about 5 minutes until I saw the fish come up and roll about 25 feet from the boat and Ron and I both saw the big tail. It got real exciting then as I started hollering and Ron was scrambling to switch from the lip grip to the net. I worked the fish up with in about 10 feet of the boat when he decided to jump....crap...nope, still had him. It just wasn't his day, but it was mine.
After a great net job, we hooped and hollered and carried on like crazy. We weighed him on two scales just to make sure he was what we thought he was and yep he was 10 lbs 14 oz on both scales. The board I carry in the boat measured him at 30.25 inches long. So when I got home Sunday evening and my wife asked me if I was a winner, I said not only yes, but Hell Yes. Thanks to that AC plug I am now half way to becoming a bagger and still have alot of the early ice out season to go. Allan, I am proud to be the first one to catch a 10 lber for 2007 on your AC Plug.
PS...Hope things are going well for you with the heart attack, we include you in our daily prayers.

Heyyyyyyyy John: Let me be one of the first to congratulate you on being the first this year to land a 10 pound plus Brown even if it took you 20 years, an understanding wife and a AC Plug to do so. Hope the old saying good things come in threes applys to you this year and you make the Brownbaggers. By the way beautifull fish. Jim _________________

Mighty fine Hookjaw, John!
And, Ron did a good job with the photography, too.
Great motivation for me!
And, since Allan says you're the first 10 pounder of the year,,, I guess that makes you the early leader in the big contest! _________________ Mark-O

Buddy, I can't tell you enough how happy I am for you! There have been several people I have hoped would get their 10 Lb. brown while I am still around to share in it. You and Kelly were at the top of the list since my grandson got his last summer. Way to go, Man!! You have worked so hard and you know I know what it means after so long.....19 years for me!
I hope you get into another one soon and get your bagger patch! I sure hope you can make it out this summer to fish with me. Wouldn't it be cool if you stuck your 2nd out here in Oregon?!?! It could happen!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words. I told my bud that next to my marriage and the birth of my kids and grandkids, catching that brown had to be one of the hi-lites of my life.
Now the plan is to catch one more for my patch, before I die of old age. Don't laugh, it could happen .....lmao.

Congratulations on your amazing catch! That is one incredible hookjaw. All muscle!
You just never know when all those hours on the water are going to come home to roost. It's always just one bite away, and can happen at any given moment on the water. Keep up the hard work and may you stick your next one sooner than later. I was walking 10 feet tall for a long time after getting my first last summer, and I'm sure you are too. Enjoy the ride.
