AC Plug Tail Size??

For Allan:
Had a Lake Trout strike short and ate a tail off one of my ACs (an Original). And, while I was replacing the tail, thought about this: Do you have a rule of thumb or standard for what size tails go with what sized AC? Does it change any from, say, an AC Skinny to the AC Original? Obviously, if I use too small a tail, it won't get the right action. But, what if I use too big of a tail? Have you played around with that?

We sell the tail kits. Rule of thumb:

1) 5 inch and smaller ACs use "small".
2) 6-8 inch use "medium"
3) 9 inch and larger use "large"
