That is a bad deal there, how big did you say his boat was? If he didn't hit something and get thrown out it really makes you wonder what happened. Be safe out there all. _________________

On Sunday I helped out a boat that was full of that guys friends and his brother in law that were out looking when their battery died .
They said they found one of his dogs in the water and the other on the shore.
That water is pretty cold down there and could easily send you into shock or a heart attack .
They were out in the ranger boat and a ranger plane I never seen before . Hope they found him _________________ I'm a peacock , you got to let me fly !
His boat is a small rectangle shaped plastic boat with the pedestal seats. The seats weren't mounted on it when we towed it back in.
From what I saw when we came upon his circling boat, he must have fallen in. No other reason for both of the dogs to be on the boat (one was knocked off when the first boat on scene initially tried to stop his boat. It swam to shore and then was rescued) and for the boat to be circling under power. The water is cold and my gps showed us floating downstream at 4.5 mph.

This hits close to home for me. Last fall I was fishing about a mile below Willow beach, I was on my inflatable poontoon, just drifting down while casting a AC plug. Well i wanted to put the lure in a spot that I have done well before, but didn't want to start up the motor.. or even paddle over to it... So, i just stood up to make a cast or two. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I'm an excellent swimmer, and the weather warm.. so I wasn't worried about falling in the water. On my 2nd or 3rd cast, I made the mistake of putting a foot on one of the pontoons to try to get a good long cast... I tried to aim my ass at the seat as I fell backwards, I did the old frogman backwards roll over the side... next thing I'm thinking is that the sun sure looked different from 8 under the water... and the shock of that cold ass water was... was well it crippled me.. I wasn't sure I was even going to get to the surface.
When i did get to air, I realized that I had better get to swimming after the boat because it was moving away... thats when I couldn't even manage to swim, so I started dog paddling as hard and fast as I could go. I got close and reached out for a ore and just missed it! This happened like 3 times. Each time it was getting harder and harder to catch up, by the last try I had decided if I didn't get that time, I had better try and make it to shore because I was about gone. Thankfully I got ahold of it.. and just hung there for a few mins to get some strength back to climb on. Thats when i realized that I couldn't swim because i had a death grip on my baitcaster and didn't know it.
I was spent by the time I got back in the seat... where my nice dry life vest was wrapped around the back of the seat. Amazing how fast things can turn to sht! Had I been wearing my jeans and rubber boots like I was earlier that morning... I don't think I'd be here writhing about this.
